Had a good day today.

Lovely Husband broke me out of Sector 7 this morning for a really nice outing lasting about 3 hours. The cold has finally broken it's grip and I've been as restless as all hell so I Had To Get Out. The cats have been driving me bezerk - either clinging to me en masse, or complaining loudly for service. Flufficide has been contemplated.

Went with Husband for the second (and hopefully last) time to the local Video Ezy closing down sale and acquired *cough* a few more titles. List to be posted separately. Then it was down to Hillary's boat harbour again for coffee, solar radiation, sculpture, and wildlife.

I got out today. This was good, but last Sunday was even better because I got taken out. Not 'shot execution-style' taken out, but more like Chinese food taken out. Except I wasn't consumed in any fashion. Apart from being exhausted. But in a good way, like a solar-electric car.

All clear? Excellent. More of the same. )

I am very pleased with today. With caffeine assist I managed 4 hours at work. Given that my absolute maximum is usually 3 hours that's really good. The only down side was that I spent all of that time working on date/time issues *shudder*. I HATE time zones. They don't play nice inside my head :-(

Last night Husband played a big band gig at The Charles Hotel, but couldn't bring all his gear home at once. So today he had to come back to collect the big bass speaker. I asked to tag along for the ride so we could have some time together, for he will be working tomorrow and needed a quite day today. No art or whales today.

I was scheduled this morning for a coffee/catchup with an old (aren't we all) UniSFAn friend whom I'd not seen much of in the last decade. I confess, however, that I was partially relieved when he called to cancel (a minor matter of needing to organise a knee reconstruction at short notice). I was feeling a bit worn out from washing my hair.

To the WA Art Gallery today to look at some gorgeous aerial photography of salt pans, ploughing lines, natural desert and shorelines. Right up your alley [livejournal.com profile] redbraids, and some of the landscapes featured were the inspiration for this thing of mine:

The whole exhibition was full of really quite amazing stuff that challenged my sense of scale and perception of reality. In some of the images it was impossible to tell how manipulated or how natural they were. And made me wince a bit for what farrming had done to the land :-(

Today was an unexpectedly action-packed day, but in a good way, unless you happen to be a large marine mammal.

Coffee. Art. Temptation. Planet Books/Videos/Everything. Coastal Navigation. Large non-furry animals. Theft! )

I tried a bit of drug abuse this morning to help the spoons along, and had a cup of coffee with breakfast.

Radical, eh? )

Clocked up quite a few bits and pieces today, with some caffeine assistance. In approximate order: Read more... )

Darling Husband took me out again today, and it was lots of fun. I like fun. Fun is good. It took us until mid afternoon to get started, but that worked out well in the end; except perhaps for the after-hours caffeine.

Last night I had a plan to kick start my brain this morning to match the physical progress: coffee. Coffee also equals 'location other than home' which is a Good Thing. I was tempted to have my coffee at the zoo, but since I wanted to also attempt work-like activity I settled for the coffee and sandwich shop (it can't be called a cafe) in the middle of my small local shopping centre. And ye gods it worked a charm!

I must really like my butcher. )

Woke up early and sufficiently human to try another test: can I drive in peak-hour traffic? The problem isn't nerves so much as nerve endings.

I do not recommend a close examination of one's home for maintenance issues. You will find them. Most scary was the probably--hopefully--old termite damage to one of the wooden (duh) window frames. Joy. A termite spray was on the list anyway, but has moved up to ASAP.

After a slow start today ended up being another in the "good day" camp, although I'm feeling my efforts from the weeked. However, not incapacitated = good. I shall enjoy this while it lasts and will never know if and for how long gas exposure was a problem. Mother is convinced of it, and I can see the attraction of a simple explanation, but I've seen too many improvements on the beige diet to be able to ignore it completely. There may have been interaction effects though.

Today was do-or-die day for the Osborne Park coffee house, and the news is good. I managed to bond a little with the person behind the bench; they gave me what I asked for; and the coffee itself tasted much better. Enough to go back again.
