There is a strange car in our driveway. That would be the new Yaris! It looks impossibly small for Husband's gear, but it tested positive so here it is. First time the household has ever had a New new car.

I shopped for clothes, and I think I liked it. But I probably won't do it again. (Warning – this gets depressing.)

Just stuff. Apologies for the Stephen Moffat style non-linear nature of the narrative.

It is an unfortunate truth of spoon management that you often have no choice in the timing of most activities. If spoons become available you immediately perform the next item on the to-do list. Thus I found myself shopping for groceries at lunchtime on a Saturday, the busiest time of the week, albeit short of pre-holiday panic shopping for the apocalypse.

The next treatment goal on which I plan to spend all my medical spoons is hydrotherapy. I don't expect to be back in the pool doing kilometres of laps any time soon, but I'll see if I can do some stretches in warm water that aren't currently possible on dry land. More on that later, but before I can do that I need some bathers (aka swimmers, cossies, swimming costume, bathing costume), as it's many years since I've owned a pair that fit. Once I've got bathers I can cross the bridge of making appointments at the physio and somehow getting my carcass there on some kind of schedule.

This is a frivolous post. I have not assigned spoons for this, nor is it anywhere in my various lists of priorities. My lists of priority tasks are long; my spoons are short. I can't really afford this. But sometimes you just have to kick over the traces and do whatever you damn want to. So I'm going to ramble for a bit.

tl;dr I ramble for quite a bit.

Apologies for going all crass and commercial, but the truth is that now is the time to do your online shopping for Christmas. (That would be Christmas 2013 – delivery delays are not yet that bad.) Pretty Rock Designs has your Christmas and Holiday Season requirements in the bag: cards, decorations, gifts, wrapping paper, and more.

I was in the local supermarket this afternoon, as I am several times a week for going on 9 years now. So it's not entirely unreasonable that other regular customers might also be familiar with me. I'm kind of oblivious to other customers myself (although I have a keen eye for staff), but the purple hair would tend to stand out in my patch of suburbia.

And so we're back, from outer space Adelaide and Melbourne, with many meaty things blog about in the traditional manner. But meaty blogging is a bit beyond me still, for having pushed mightily beyond my boundaries again and again during the trip (and a bonus family thing on Saturday night) I find myself without will or wit. However, I'll try to throw a few discussion points together and see if I manage to expand upon them later in deathless prose.

Today Yesterday I had the kind of day that pretty much demands a blog post, if only for the purposes of propping up my indeed quite dodgy memory. There were thrills and spills, new toys, broken toys, technical trickery, rather too much time on the phone to all the wrong people, and something else that escapes me, but may yet return in the process of writing this post. In which case I'll probably come back and edit that last bit and you'll never know about the lapse.

Or not.

ETA: Now I remember. I discovered that one of the cats had vomited on one of my favourite books. A paperback.

And now it's the next day and I'm lost and rambling. This is a bit long.

This evening I took delivery of a new microscope. A proper microscope. Coming soon a 10 MP camera, and depending on results this may be followed by some extra lighting and optics. But hang on, I hear you say, don't you already have a microscope and camera? What have you beeen using all this time to take pretty rock picktures? Witchcraft and old copies of Hansard?

Husband took me to the Art Gallery of WA today to see the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) exhibition "Picasso to Warhol: Fourteen Modern Masters". i.e. Abstract leaning towards Surrealism with an aftertaste of Pop. I liked it. Mostly. Warhol continues to leave me cold, but maybe that's the idea.

I have been remiss in reporting progress on Cymbalta, but things have certainly been happening. I'll try and record as much of that as possible, and maybe write about my trip to the Big Bad City today. (Apologies for the lack of linear coherence in this post - I'm not feeling quite *that* well yet.)

It's just struck me that the high point of my day was experienced while shopping for kitty litter. Some might find this state of affairs depressing; I was just glad to get out of the house, albeit with heavy dependence on The Stick.

I ordered something very important on June 20 and it has not yet arrived. Today marks 17 business days elapsed since processing confirmation, which normally you'd expect to fall within the 4-6 business days suggested by the site as an appropriate delivery window. Maybe not, my maths is not really on fire today.

Visits from tradesmen are always interesting, in the Chinese curse sense. Today's electrician's visit was rather information dense so I thought it best to record it here. And, you know, complain a little.

Lovely Husband broke me out of Sector 7 this morning for a really nice outing lasting about 3 hours. The cold has finally broken it's grip and I've been as restless as all hell so I Had To Get Out. The cats have been driving me bezerk - either clinging to me en masse, or complaining loudly for service. Flufficide has been contemplated.

My mattress is trying to kill me. I've suspected it for some time now, but having made the decision to do something about it I must have aroused its suspicions and now it's engaging in all-out war.
