Responsible home ownership

I do not recommend a close examination of one's home for maintenance issues. You will find them. Most scary was the probably--hopefully--old termite damage to one of the wooden (duh) window frames. Joy. A termite spray was on the list anyway, but has moved up to ASAP.
Gutters vacuum-cleaned today, and in the process slightly reshaped. Apparently some of the blockage was residue from the roof restoration. Sigh.
Gutter repairs and additions (and car service) on Thursday, after which new soakwells and sundry draining improvements. Speaking of which, I found moss growing at the base of some of the walls where we've had drainage issues before. I suspect the wall cavity along there probably isn't actually a cavity, but is partially filled with cement and crap. That's the stretch where the gas pipe had corroded BTW. I'm suddenly nervous about the electrics in the vicinity...
Anywho, once new soakwells etc are in, then termite spray, then patch holes, and then strip and paint window frames and eaves. Some of the gardening activity is also deferred until after the spray, as I don't want to disturb any of the known termite nesting sites before the house is protected.
How do people keep up?
Somehow this afternoon I retained sufficient enthusiasm to do my handwashing, make a few tradesman phonecalls, do some food research and most importantly, look up my gym's current Body Balance class schedule and pool hours. Fingers crossed I'll get to a Body Balance class on Saturday morning.
I also went to work for a half day and had a coffee. The coffee people are starting to tell me stories, so that's going well. Next time I'll ask for "the usual" and see what happens.
I plucked up the courage to check on the funding situation at work, and I have job security for the foreseeable future, which is handy.
So, is it just me or have I been a teensy bit more active lately? ;-)
