After a slow start today ended up being another in the "good day" camp, although I'm feeling my efforts from the weeked. However, not incapacitated = good. I shall enjoy this while it lasts and will never know if and for how long gas exposure was a problem. Mother is convinced of it, and I can see the attraction of a simple explanation, but I've seen too many improvements on the beige diet to be able to ignore it completely. There may have been interaction effects though.

Enjoyed a coffee today, with a new young attractive mediterranean chap doing the making. That's more like it :-)

So, rampant sexism, or just appreciating the view? The coffee was the best so far. I smiled, he smiled, the cashier (who has made the coffee on other days) smiled. How can that be bad?

Did another solid half-day at the office, which included a few little cries of triumph. It's good to have a job like that. This is the 6th work day in a row, from a run of 8 "good days". It gives me hope. I could have gone on for longer but had things to do. I've also got a limit on the hours they can afford, and I'll see what happens when I reach that threshold at least a couple of weeks in a row.

Made the call to Molescan to book in my first all-over mole check in 15+years. I have had spot spot checks over the years, but nothing serious. I booked for after Swancon, as I'd rather not be distratced by minor surgery before then. I didn't actually have a choice, so the reception seemed quite relieved that I wasn't in any hurry.

A gutter vacuuming person came around today to quote. Apparently we have unnaturally narrow gutters and he would need to modify his equipment to fit. And charge twice the normal rate, by the looks of it. Sigh. Apparently ye canna change the laws of physics.

Trekked up to MS's place for a family dinner to catch up with LBS before she returns to London. They ate Chinese takeaway. I ate mashed potato. I'm getting the hang of this. New bit of freeway trimmed at least 5 minutes off the travel time, so that's handy, and I had an uninterrupted run all the way home.

A proposal was raised for us four sisters to meet up in London in June/July next year and spend a few weeks together travelling in Europe. Just the girls, no partners or offspring. It has never occured to me to travel this way; time with Husband being a precious commodity, and my odd culinary and entertainment requirements being inconvenient at best, but it's certainly a new concept to ponder.

I chatted for a long time with EN (Eldest Niece) who is about to start year 12, is in to genre stuff, likes the shiny, and who totally rocks. I'm trying to nudge her gently in the direction of Swancon, and she was already going to Waicon if work permits. MN (Middle Niece) was too firmly attached to the Wii for social duties, and SN (Smallest Niece) had her eye on Barbie, Princess, and Mermaidilia. Did you know that The Princess and the Pauper featured a song sung to a cat who had self-esteem issues? And an evil poodle with a gold tooth? There's a couple of brain cells right there I'll never get back.

Part of the evening involved additional sorting through boxes of BB's photos. We're getting to the dregs mostly, of little or no interest to others, although we all fished out a few more for safekeeping. Mostly tourist shots (e.g. artillery photographed from every possible angle, and air-show shots of a tiny plane in a big sky, presumably doing something interesting), but amongst the photos was something a bit different: a thank-you letter from Buckingham Palace to BB. I'll save that for another post.
