Life has been rather grim lately, particularly with regard to my freedom or lack thereof to get out of the house and do anything resembling fun. Even inside the house my hands are so wrecked with arthritis and I've so little energy that I'm forced to brutally prioritise to a shrinking list of essential activities. But not entirely.

As SwanCon 2015 is both the NatCon and 40th Swancon, I'd really like to get myself organised this year to turn Pretty Rocks on Frocks fabric(s) into a ball gown of some sort I can wear at the masquerade. I was in Big-W today and was almost tempted to shell out $5.87 for a DVD copy of Catwoman just for the pleasure of destroying it in some unspecified fashion. But that would be Wrong. I did get a copy of Eight Legged Freaks, a horror/comedy film I recall with much affection, so it will be interesting to see how my memory of it holds up. I would have bought it weeks ago when I found it whilst trawling in the cheap bins, but I had it mixed up with Arachnophobia and passed it by, only later realising which was which. I wasn't keen enough to try and retrace my steps. But there it was today, in clear view and only $5.87. Mine.

baby_elvis you were quite correct, Equestria* is still in - I saw four of them today. If I had somewhere to wear it I could really give the look a serious nudge with a tailored jacket and silk scarf. I'd need a snood... Oops, just crossed a line methinks.

I am currently at the weight I was when I stopped buying anything remotely fitted because I was gaining. So, I've recently enjoyed the experience of being forced to discard (i.e. store) several items of clothing because they're too big, but there's not much available in the cupboard at this particular size. The coolish-weather professional wardrobe was particularly suffering, and since I have to make some public appearances soon I thought I'd try and find at least one nice tailored smart jacket. Preferably not something in a grey pinstripe, but the fit was the thing.

Good things that happened this morning:

* woke up
* put on warm trousers for the first time in several months. Cinched in the belt. Did it again. (ETA: And once seated at the office, did it again!)
* saw the mouse at the train station again

NSG:

* waited 25 minutes for a train (6:30 - 6:55)
* we were packed in like refugees. I swear I could hear chickens somewhere.

I would like to lose weight because the magazines tell me I should.
