I have been Informed that my blinds will be installed tomorrow between 8 and 9 am. Good thing I don't have a life, eh?

My not unreasonable response "Do I have a choice?" was met with stony silence*. That would be a no then.

I am yet to recover my light and fire. Damn gas shortage/fatigue thingie. I am aware that the presence of my particular brand of light and fire generally predicates some form of stupid behaviour from the joy of it all, but I'd quite like to have that option.

Got some painting done though )

Some images of the current domestic chaos.

No, not making teenagers depressed or Uni students hungry, but making mock of paint colour names.

Eucalyptus slimline venetians and silverleaf verticals are now winging their way towards my kitchen and I *duck*, courtesy of Westral and another big bag o' cash.

Can anyone recommend a vertical/venetian blind supplier? I've already had a yes vote for Westral (who are coming to quote today), and a no vote for Vista ("never mind the quality - feel the width!"). I'm in the process of organising a quote from Spotlight, for they did a good job on my curtains.

For reasons that escape me, I was just siezed by the desire to publish this picture of a defunct light switch in my house:

Does that look wrong to you? It looks wrong to me. )

What DIY dodginess lurks in your domiciles as a gift passed down through the ages?

Another painting session in the kitchen this morning, including the first bit of second coat which is very exciting. My walls make me smile :-)

I made a solid start on painting the kitchen today. Perhaps a little *too* solid, for I didn't stop when I knew I should have, so the neck and shoulders may kick back a little over the next few days. Or maybe sooner :-(

But it's just the kind of activity I've had so much trouble with for several years, so yay me!

But there were compensations )

Work and brain stuff
Had a splendiferous day today. Fibro bits in left arm hurt like hell, but my head was the clearest it's been in months. It's like a still and frosty bright blue morning, rather than a cloudy wet week of spitting rain and fitful winds. The main thing I've hated about my illness is that I could feel the IQ points dropping away. Now I know I haven't been sick, I've been poisoned.

This afternoon I felt SHARP, but not hypersensitive. Woohoo! \o/ Can't wait to see the specialist next week and pay him three figure sums to explain how I've fixed myself :P

More health and work happiness; some garden destruction by the authorities; and a brief food reference. Make with the clicky. )

Have had another very productive afternoon. Sorted out the linen cupboard and printed out little labels so chaos will never again grab another toehold there *shakes fist at chaos*. Was astonished at how many pillow slips we have; they were jammed in *everywhere*. Can now lay my hands on a Fitted Sheet - Winter instantly. Consigned some elderly linens to the emergency box.

Big domestic goddess day today.

The exciting details. Contains traces of semi-naked strapping young men. )

ETA: Some pix added, but sadly no lotto win. Or squirrel pix.

Ow.

With some trepidation I have just wielded a number of pointy metallic objects in the very close vicinity of electrical outlets.

IOW I just screwed the kitchen power point faces back onto the newly tiled walls. It looks much better without bare wiring hanging in open air.

[livejournal.com profile] kae_dash may have blinked and missed it, but I popped in to Exomod today to wave hello. I was in the region to drop off another Swancon reciept book at Planet Books (a division of Planet Everything Inc). It's not that I don't love you K, but it was lunchtime and I hate to disturb people at work and potentially piss off their customers.

We have a tiler beavering away in the kitchen whilst I cower in the bedroom with Husband and three cats. He is very old, and has borrowed Husband for more than a few bits of help, some of which involved a jackhammer. Husband is not a jackhammer kind of guy.

Suspect lungs feel much better this morning. I'm really beginning to suspect the city is bad for my health, or maybe my battle with the cold was a brief one and I emerged victorious.

However, I have aching back and shoulder muscles and I am overjoyed :-)

Last night I think I accidentally made custard. If anyone's curious as to how that is achieved I may explain later.

In theory right now a tiler is in my kitchen slopping cement all over my new benchtops. Husband is not answering the phone, so perhaps the tiler is an axe murderer after all.

I am at work, which makes me happy.
