I am yet to recover my light and fire. Damn gas shortage/fatigue thingie. I am aware that the presence of my particular brand of light and fire generally predicates some form of stupid behaviour from the joy of it all, but I'd quite like to have that option.

However, did manage to do some painting, so at least the tricky bits around the door and windows have both coats ready for the new blinds which are due this week. The glass will also look much nicer when it's clean, inside and out. I believe "see through" is the look we're aiming for (radical interior design concepts are my middle names), but it's incomaptible with building activity, and I fear the terrible revenge of the spider civilisation established under the flyscreens.

Pushed on passed the absolutely necessary bits of painting, so there's some visible progress against the yellow. In the process I finished the original 2l tin of paint, which was nice. Only one stretch yet to prep, and that's behind the big desk and filing cabinets, neither of which I am keen to shift (I fear the terrible revenge of the dust bunny civilisation under the desk). Hindsight is a wonderful thing; the kitchen area would have made a great time-lapse photography exercise, with a wave of furniture just one step ahead of the tide of paint colours.

So, after two weeks of teeth-grinding inactivity I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and imagine the day when the kitchen might be finished. Except perhaps the ceiling, at which point the wobbly edges at the cornices will be magically neatened up...

Managed to coerce ask Husband to move some of the garden waste out the front for the Council pickup, but there's still the remains of the old kitchen yet to go. Not all of the old kitchen; I've kept the old pantry cupboard doors because they have that lethal taint of "might be useful" about them. They'd make good trestle tables, perhaps, or a chicken coop...
