It's been a while

Today I did something haven't done for quite some time. Two things, in fact.
One, I made arrangements to meet someone socially, and actually achieved it.
bunny_m it was a pleasure.
Two, I went to the zoo in the first time in ages. A well-timed trip it turns out, because my Zoo Friend membership was due to expire in just a couple of weeks. I have renewed my special Zoo Friend powers.
It wasn't the best day to see animals. We got there in the morning before the weather broke, but it was cloudy and unsettled so a lot of the animals were in hiding. Some highlights:
We found a rat in the undergrowth outside the nocturnal house. It was alive, but not very frisky. I passed the buck to a docent and fled the scene.
We failed to see any palm squirrels, despite some efforts to locate them. No-one got to shout "Sqrrl!" today.
The cheetah chewed some ribs right in front of the enclosure glass.
Meercats did what meercats do.
Only a single otter was sighted, sleeping in its burrow.
Simmo the crocodile didn't move an inch.
Somewhere in the region of the (invisible) red pandas I felt well enough to contemplate an afternoon session at work. About thirty seconds later my spoons fled the scene. Felt well enough to get home safely, but rested up thereafter. This week's sugar and caffeine consumption is coming home to rest, just like me.

No-one got to shout "Sqrrl!" today.Actually, just as I was approaching my car after admiring the Catmobile, two skwerls ran across from one tree and up the one nearest to my car. I tried to cry out "Steph!" but had a random voice!fail as has been happening lately and I could barely hear myself.

I suspect that it might have been a not entirely successful escapee from the nocturnal house, given it's Not Happy response to the light and weather. Hopefully the staff could return it to it's correct place safely.
It was great to get out, catch up, and visit the zoo.
