I had two fixed appointments for today: tax at H&R block at 10:30 that rendered me unable to attend a zoo gathering that morning, and my regularly scheduled massage at 4:30pm. In between I thought I'd potter about the house and garden, there being no shortage of things to do.
After I did my tax I was perhaps a little dizzy with joy to discover I'd be getting a refund of over $3000, plus interest. As I drove home it was only a little after 11 and thought the girls might still be at the zoo. And a visit to the zoo is never wasted, and I plan to have less spare time for such things in the near future. So I turned left instead of right, and eventually hooked up with
fe2h2o (plus G, L, and A),
babyelvis and blinky, and Kylie and Norah.
I confess I didn't stay with the group very long, but I felt I earned my keep by guiding everyone in the most direct path from crocodile to tasmanian devil. There we parted, some to go home, and I to seek the numbat.
The numbat resisted my overtures and was not to be seen, but the red panda obliged by lolling along a branch with all four feet (plus tail) hanging limply over the sides.
The noctural house was quiet and deserted, which is normally is a good thing, but a lot of the beasties were hiding, which rather defeated the purpose. On my way out I saw some uber cute baby meerkats, and the lions lying in the shade.
Dragging a bit by now I made my way home and rested until my afternoon massage, which was lovely. No twitches, spasms, lumps, sheets of cardboard, crackles or runaway chickens, just gloriously normal muscle tissue. I asked N to say "normal" a few extra times. She'd also given me a birthday present: a guardian angel pendant necklace which I feel the urge to wear.
Later in the evening I went to visit
mikey_ob to keep him company since he'd been quarrantined all alone. Turns out he wasn't alone for he'd convinced
redbraids to stay despite the potential immune challenge. So to my very great pleasure I got to spend the evening with both of those lovely people. M is a good subject to stroke. I also got to meet M's Mum without discussing behaviourism.
Am now very tired and plan to take tomorrow quietly to prepare for the Swancon Quiz tomorrw, and my firmly desired return to work next week.
