Am very pleased with today.

Managed to get up, breakfasted, showered and decently attired. Did not immediately collapse - woohoo!

Realised that today might be the day I could drive into the office to deliver my month-old invoice. Yes, I could have mailed it, but that would have been admitting that I could not foresee a time when I would be able to hand-deliver it. Yesterday I would have mailed it in defeat if I could have summoned the spoons to find an envelope. Fortunately didn't, for the last-minute paranoia check of my dulled arithmetic skills revealed that I'd undercharged by a whole precious hour so had to redo the thing this morning anyway.

So, hit the freeway more or less after peak hour, although intervening roadworks make this an arbitrary concept, and made it to the office unscathed. Well, slightly scathed for the hands were not keen on the driving caper, but it's a relatively small thing.

Much small debris about the place.

Did the rounds of greetings with sundry colleagues and boss-like people who seemed pleased to see me and amazingly still willing to wait upon my recovery. Business is going well, so I've still got paid work when I'm up for it. It didn't take long for me to start to wilt noticeably; I then failed to catch a line thrown to me by a colleague who then expressed disappointment at my lack of wit. If nothing else it was an effective demonstration of my lack of job fitness. I did manage some shop talk which was nice, but had to retreat.

Proceeded thereupon to the folks' place where the bathroom saga continues. Could be a lot worse really, but these things do seem to take a long time. The vanity top arrived a couple of days ago but was mirror-reversed. The manufacturer had failed to notice the word "TOP" on the melamine template supplied by the bathroom contractor. Oops. A replacement was produced in amazingly short order, but the small delay had had an impressive knock-on effect for the other trades.

Mum has been sorting through paperwork and had ferreted out a pile of my personal history for me to take away. School reports, tennis and swimming certificates, one or two medical bits all in a pile. I've read a few of my old school reports and will no doubt make a post of interesting highlights. e.g. Grade 2 Art: "Lacks imagination". Dude, harsh. It will be interesting to map out the PhysEd changes: early on I was "extremely keen to participate"; somewhere along the line I became "unable to participate".

Moved on then to yesterday's promised appointment with the last gasp (maybe) of food badness, and a surprisingly non-effortless quest for track pants. As an unexpected bonus I picked up a beautiful green brocade jacket that should be work-formal and wedding-suitable, at a tiny fraction of its original ticket price. Yay economic collapse!

Home then into the teeth of the sun-lit oncoming storm front which made an extremely impressive and occasionally disconcerting sight. We met precisely at my house and I was briefly pinned in my car by the wind and the rain. Inside to discover I was powerless, so employed cat-food-generated power to warm my nap until civilisation made its welcome return. Now I have a billion clocks to reset. Ate chocolate; drank coke. Teehee.

So, relative to recent days in particular, an excellent result. I'm sore, flu-ish and fuzzy-headed, but much more mobile and generally cheered.
