I dreamed last night that Adelaide was trying to kill me. I'm not generally keen on personal dream reportage, but this one had physical implications for my current fatigued state so it's of clinical interest.

I dreamed I was standing on the edge of the upper story of an open top double-decker bus driving around the streets of Adelaide. It wasn't going particularly fast or wild, but at every little manouvre I would nearly fall off, so I had to cling to the pole again and again. Sometimes my feet would be swept from under me and I had to hold on by my arms and curl my toes to make sure my slippers didn't fall off. This went on for a long time.

This actually makes a lot of fibro sense, given one of the causes of fatigue is constant muscle tension, and muscle fatigue is the variety I've been suffering of late. I've also got great "muscle tone" where logic says I should not. Hopefully I'm not looking down the barrel of muscle spasms big enough to throw me out of bed. Last time that happened I collected more than a few bruises. Still, spasms do diffuse the tension a bit, and that's the basis for some of my massage therapy. We call it herding the chickens. Can't DIY that I'm afraid.

I've reduced my sleep meds and seem to get a lot of sleep (a huge amount in fact), but it occurs to me to wonder if "all I need" is a quality night's sleep with relaxed muscle. And some physio, and heat and circulation. So tonight the new program begins, with no expectation that I'll be functional tomorrow, for I must get wasted.

I'm still shopping around for methods and devices to warm my feet and lower legs. It's also suprisingly difficult to locate a hand-held massager thingie. It's all electrical stimulation (really not for me) or specific neck and back chair pads. I'm keeping an eye out for heated pet beds, or plug-in ugg boots. Electric socks? Any ideas from wacky home catalogues gratefully considered. I'll try a camping/outdoors place next for Everest-rated cold weather gear. I've experimented with home-made leg-warmers and have had some luck there. As a bonus, they look groovy.

Still have that awful metallic tang in my mouth. Couldn't shift it with salt, sugar, or chilli octopus, and my insides are protesting some of the measures I've taken :-( . It makes it difficult to drink as much water as I'd normally like too, so I need to keep an eye out for dehydration.

These posts are very useful to me but I can't imagine anyone else is reading at this point.

Me too!
I just don't comment much. I haven't been in a communicative mood lately.

How is electrical stimulation not for you? Because there are some vibrating handhelds that may be good. (Even those ahem, 'personal massagers' can actually be very good at loosening hard muscle knots, like the ones under the shoulderblades.)

Perhaps warming gel packs? Or poultice type things? How are you with heating creams?
