Husband and I are due to take a couple of days together down south in mid July. Husband has voted for beach, and we'll be starting with a night in Bunbury. Any recommendations?

Hmm. I always avail myself of that handy Bunbury bypass, so no help whatsoever.

The idea is to get *away* from Bunbury. I'm delivering a lecture there and didn't fancy starting the drive home at 9pm or so, so we're using it as an excuse to start a holiday. Overnight at the Lord Forrest, then off... somewhere for a couple of nights.

depends how far you want to go and how much you want to pay.

eagle bay and golden bay are lovely, as is prevelly. bunker bay has a resort.
