More cultural sacrifices
Nov. 21st, 2009 12:47 pmI'm off shortly to the Playhouse to attend "Have You Had It Long Madam?" with Mother. No, not the stage version of Are You Being Served, but the panel version of Antiques Roadshow. I quite like AR, but it's just occurred to me that if I had perfume problems at the ACS meeting, I'm probaby going to suffocate this afternoon.
If Husband makes* me watch something classic in black and white tonight I may break someone.
I'm going to have to watch a classic Arnie movie to make up for all this. Perhaps Predator.

Antiques Roadshow versus Bargain Hunt
Aug. 8th, 2007 05:27 pmAs Channel 9 has seen fit to remove both these programs from the air (clearly we all need to watch The Brady Bunch again, and don't we all love Family Feud) I thought it would be a good time to post my thoughts on (a) Why Antiques Roadshow makes great television, and (b) Why Bargain Hunt manages to undermine almost all of those features. I refer to those series of the program that have been broadcast on free-to-air TV in the last year or so. I am insufficiently keen to chase up which ones they were.
