How hard can it be?

stephbgThis morning I ran an errand to the Governor Stirling Building, home of Premier and Cabinet, and the Department of Indigenous Affairs amongst others. My goal was the reception desk on the first floor. Even though it was only the first floor I intended to take the lift for navigational reasons.
So, I swished into the lobby and headed for the bank of lifts. One arrived shortly so I got in and immediately caused a logjam behind me by scanning the three separate banks of buttons, looking for the "1". On failing to do so I twigged that this was a restricted lift and fought my way out past the grumpy public servants.
Back in the lobby I looked up and around for signage to indicate which lift might get me to the lofty heights of Level 1. Nada. I reversed some more, looked at a few more unnatural angles, attracted the attention of security, and eventually found the subtle and elegant signage for which I was searching. The lifts themselves were tucked around the far side of the reception desk, cleverly concealed by attractive foliage, and on the far side of some aggressive security signage. Not quite "Beware of the leopard" but hidden enough for me.
Made it to the first floor, did my thing and retreated.
