Fishie news

I have good fishie news and some not-so-good fishie news.
The good fishie news is that someone definitely laid some eggs recently. No idea who, or if there are more, but I found one clutch. I'd like to think it was my recruitment of Disco Stu for pygmy perch stud duties that did the trick, but they could easily be minnow eggs. Statistically speaking, minnows are more likely.
The not-so-good fishie news is that I found them on the pump filter housing while I was cleaning it. I plunged it back into the water as soon as I saw them, but it's likely the eggs received too much of a shock to survive. But you never know, some of these things are incredibly tough.
I'd already resigned myself to the fact that I was probably the worst enemy of any eggs that might be laid because I frequently remove weed and plant matter from the pond, including the algae that tangles around the stems of the potplants. While I'm not specifically trying to breed the fish, it would be nice if they managed it. Still, it's good to know that at least one female in there felt comfortable enough to spawn.
As a bonus have some fishpix I took a few weeks ago, cleverly timed for when LJ was down:
