Pretty tiny shell of the day: Abalone

Tonight I pointed the microscope at an abalone shell. The most interesting bits were the flawed parts on the inside, not the flashy colours on the outer shell. Enjoy.

I'm getting the hang of it now. I've abandoned the stand, for a start, and hold the microscope firmly against whatever I'm trying to get a shot of. A picture of the microscope itself might prove useful. Later maybe.

This one reminds me of an aurora:

Haven't yet tried lighting from the side to do away with the glare, but I managed to cut roughly around a shot of a round piece of polished agate to find some clouds:
