Hello! You don't know me, and I'm not sure I know you, but I'm ex-Perth and seem to see you coming up as a commenter on my friends' posts, and, um, well, would it be okay if I stole your icon for very occasional use? Jeremy Nelson agrees with me that my life deserves it at times...and I would credit it. :)
In this case, it was the cat herding that appealed, but yeah, you may have a point on the whip thing. :)
Jem (who is next to me and packing for trip to Tonga - see is_apposite for odd explanation) says hi back. And tells me your full name, which rather makes me wonder if we might be (quite distantly) related. My mother has the same maiden name as you, and has vast hordes of cousins and second cousins in WA. :) None of whom I know by name, so this is quite a pointless addendum.
(a) Thanks for Jem's lj - I was about to ask. Slowly slowly collecting bodies from the dim dark past. *has interesting memories of is_apposite's 21st birthday party*
(b) Our relationship is likely to be pretty distant because my mother has Done the family tree in all directions and there's a severe lack of local cousinage. She has over 10,000 names in the database, all researched to within an inch of their lives. However, at some point along the line our mutual ancestors probably came from the same bleak bit of Northumbria! Hello 47th cousin 4 times removed!!!

Date: 2007-10-10 01:38 pm (UTC)Say hi to Jem for me. I think you may be right that we've not met but I've seen your icon around too. Always happy to meet friends of friends.
The world needs more cat herders! Or is it the whip that's the thing? ;-)
