This is what copper looks like when you dig it out of the ground. Acquired this in York, Western Australia and I think it was sourced from the local area.





Bit of a rush job this so didn't get any decent closeups. The specimen is about 6" wide which made it a bit tricky for the macro function on my little camera. I have the hands of a surgeon coming off heroin, so fine focus wasn't really happening.

It be shiny and satisfyingly heavy.

Pretty! I've been aspiring to acquire some native copper, but I didn't know one could get it from York.

I'll have to keep an eye out. :)

This purchase was 15+ years ago so the chances of retail continuity are slim. Not much in the way of geological time I'll admit.
