Short-term there is a great deal of benefit to be had from going back to bed and staying there.

Medium-term and onwards, it gets less pleasant. Of course, it also gets more boring/annoying, so that's kinda self-adjusting anyhow.

I say, give it a try, if only For The Sake Of Science™. ;)
