Cats, shoes and stuff

Cat news
Despite a delaying tactic of shouting "I'm happy! I want to go for a walk" Cally was fooling no-one and had a little trip to the V. E. T. this afternoon.
Given her behaviour and recent history the vet was happy to agree with my diagnosis of "sick cat" and skipped straight to the same anti-biotics she had a few months ago. None of that cat body fluid collection drama this time.
She was shaking violently in the waiting room, although fortunately there were no dogs there with her (apart from some apparently elephant-sized ones barking out the back). As always I felt like an axe murderer for putting her through the stress. It is perfectly OK for a cat to vibrate, but they should never tremble.
She barely raised a single hiss on the table even through a temperature taking and an injection, and there was no human blood to be seen. Barely a shadow of her usual self.
However, if she responds to treatment like she did last time, heads, arms and legs will be rolling long before we're through with the 14 days of antibiotics in our collective future.
BTW my blood type is A+ and Husband's is B+. Just, you know, in case she *really* responds to treatment.
Shoe news
I've never before had the pleasure of buying a pair of shoes that came with an instructional DVD, but there's always a first time for everything.
At Mother's increasingly pointed urging I finally braved the wilds of an unknown Scarborough Beach Road business address on a Saturday morning to find the special shoe place where I purchased a pair of MBT shoes. That's "Masai Barefoot Technology" an enormous technological effort gone into creating shoes that simulate walking barefoot over uneven soft ground.
But these are not just shoes, oh no, they're a lifestyle, a workout, a physiotherapy session, and an adventure all rolled into one. I had no idea what I was getting into.
And bloody expensive, but I've never really enjoyed the luxury of cheap shoes.
The key is a sole shaped like a rocking chair, so it's like wearing inverse heels. You've also got to work to keep your balance, but the idea it's exactly the kind of work your body is designed to do. Well, the kind of exercise *normal* bodies are designed to do. I shall have to consult medical professionals next week, but they (the shoes, sadly not the medical professionals) come with a seven day money back garantee for fitting problems. As long as they're not trashed per se. The shoes, not the medical professionals.
Other stuff
Visited folks to prove aforementioned shoe purchase to Mother; stroked Mother's hair for a while.
Bought a replacement body pillow, having irrevocably squeezed the life out of my last one.
Major lotto win scheduled for this evening.
Looking forward to seeing
dalekboy et al at Pancakes tomorrow.
Saw a few Collingwood supporters around the place, but did not hiss, give them the finger or run them down as was sorely tempted to do.
Got the eyebrows Done.
Possibly got caught doing 110km on the freeway by a camera, but I was right next to someone else so there's a chance I got away with it. I had hoped the trip up to Joondalup would work out my burgeoning hoonette tendencies but it's just too close by.

Date: 2007-09-15 12:21 pm (UTC)Spent months urging me to buy same - once both my anterior and posterior tendon as well as my aponeurosis were stuffed I did so - aaah. Took me a while to get used to them, but it is SO NICE to not feel pain while on my feet. And off them.
Going to get the sandals next! It's getting hot here.
