The Magic Rain-Detecting Bodyparts(tm) would like to make a brief statement:

IT'S RAINING!

Yes, thank you MRDBs, we had all noticed that.

IT'S RAINING A LOT!!!!

As noted. Do you have anything more to say?

IT'S GOING TO RAIN SOME MORE!!!!!!

Quite.

DID YOU SEE THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE GO? IT WAS, LIKE, WOOSH.

*sigh*

AND ALL THAT MOISTURE IN THE AIR. WOW! AND THE LIGHTNING STRIKE JUST DOWN THE ROAD.

That's quite enough from you, MRDBs. I'd quite like you to stop talking now.

HELL NO. I'm in charge now.

Ooh yeah. I took the kids down to the beach to see if anything interesting got washed up in the blow last night, and while on the road there we were hailed on in one of the most extreme bits of weather of the day. By the time we got out of the car at Mettams' Pool the temperature had tanked like Mel Gibson's career.

Surprisingly few shells on the beach, but did get some nice sponges and a cuttlefish thingy nearly as long as my forearm. The major highlight of the expedition was A and her cousin sprinting off along the beach in spite of my repeated prepatory admonitions about not doing so. I was left huffing along after them dragging C and cousin 2, shouting into the howling gale for them to stop. By the time I caught up with them after a couple of hundred meters around a corner out of view, I found A standing on a rock just outside the surf zone while waves broke just short of her. I think my spittle-flying rant to the two of them may have included the phrase "fucking idiots", but when I later confessed this to Merete she immediately forgave me on contextual grounds.

Bugger childhood enriching activities. I'm welding them into metal boxes for the next decade or so.
