Last night I forgot to take my sleeeping pill (the infamous Stilnox). I realised this at about 4AM, by which time it was too late to do anything about it, so I thought I'd just forge on through the night and try and survive today.

I am *very annoyed* at myself. Yesterday I thought I had a good chance of rejoining the human race, but after a thoroughly sleepless night today was a writeoff. I really can't afford to add insult to injury. Temperature was all over the place too, so I couldn't find the right combination of blankets and warming paraphenalia. Most of me quite sensibly felt the cold, but bits of me were burning hot. Some of the cold bits responded to coverage, some just burned with cold. Some of the hot bits definitely radiated heat (afaict maybe perhaps absolutely?) and needed cooling with my handily cold hands. Worst offenders the skin over front and sides of thighs, perhaps unsurprisingly in the spots where I get the worst chickens^. Haven't been able to get the balance of thermals, jumpers, blankets and aircon right all day.

Have sensibly avoided heavy machinery. Felt a lot better at around 2:30PM, from some mangled version of a circadian rhythm. Haven't felt sleepy for what feels like days. Not especially wired, just very Awake. Eyes don't want to close. Hopefully I'll keep going for another couple of hours until I can initiate a sensible sleep period.

Learned a few things:
* Must pay more attention to the nighttime routine. I took my usual supplements (zinc, magnesium, folate), and had some paracetamol, but forgot to add the little blue pill into the mix. I expect I was distracted from the little blue pill bit of the routine by the choice of painkiller. I really resent the little blue pill, but I know well enough to not just stop. Now I know exactly why :-(

* There aren't many local people online between 2AM and 3AM. Hi [livejournal.com profile] alias_sqbr and [livejournal.com profile] mynxii.

* Pumpkin wakes at 4AM to start demanding breakfast, but then he goes quiet and doesn't get going again until 6AM.

* The hoons like to drive really fast at about 5AM. Probably freeway, possibly Wanneroo Road.

* The dawn chorus started about an hour before dawn, at 6AM ish. No kookaburras today.

* My neighbours start to move off at about 6:15AM. That's when the buses start to operate, and someone gets the paper delivered. It's all action stations here.

* The freeway traffic doesn't really get going until nearly 7AM which is a lot later than I expected.

et cetera

(^) It's a long story. Muscle jumpy thingy.

Ack!

Too few people realise just how damaging a night of inability to sleep can be when you have too few spoons to start with.

I hope tonight is better.

*hugs*

I am very glad we got foxtel. Although I am still able to sleep quite well (it's all relative these days) or at least lie quietly for a while most nights, Lifestyle channel is a saviour at 3am on those nights I can't.

*waves* :) (It's a sensible hour now, but I'm not sure it was when I opened this tab)

I hate when you know EXACTLY why you feel crap and it could have been avoided.
