Hello. The tail end of this cold is hanging on, but it's mostly retreated into a small stubborn patch in my sinuses to raise choking gag-reflex phlegm*. Unfortunately I've been gifted with a flare, so it feels like I've got the flu now instead. To be clear, I don't have the flu, just flu-like symptoms. It's affected my hands quite badly so I've not been up for typing much, which is a shame because I've had zombies and aliens and interesting things to talk about. For real.
In the meantime I hurt through the chest, shoulders, and arms. It hurts to breathe, and I keep trying to stretch the kinks out but stretching only make things worse. A bit like scratching an itch and making it more itchy. Did not get as far as the letterbox today. Glasses of water are heavy. What's kind of fun about the chest-and-arms version of a flare is that I often lose all sensation in my arms and can completely lose track of their position. I've learned to amuse myself by then imagining my arms in ridiculous multi-jointed positions, and the brain doesn't protest because it's got no competing info coming in. Only trouble then is if I ask them to move for real they don't :-(
Some of the current flare may have been from a mistimed burst of enthusiasm in the garden on Monday. I'm not sure it's possible for me to have a well-timed burst of enthusiasm these days, but at least I got to chop, hack, and wrench my way through some excess biota. And catch some rays.
I've also been naughty and had three bowls of hot asian clear soups in the last couple of weeks. I used only a fraction of the flavour packets, but it was still just concentrated flavour enhancer which is a no-no (but not as bad as preservatives). It was beyond my control! When I have a cold I need sinus-clearing soup with rice noodles!
Sadly there have been no horsies for a couple of weeks now. Too weak to drive at present, let alone scritch properly.
Feeling a bit lonely on lj these days :-(
(*) I know, I'm just no fun any more.
