One shouldn't become too attached

Today I watched the most recent broadcast episode of V and reached an important milestone.
Somewhere towards the end of the episode I realised that I was enjoying it almost entirely on its own merits, rather than constantly comparing it to my memories of enjoying the original series. I haven't entirely escaped the influence of VTOS, because the Lizard Princess Lisa has the same pretty hairdo as Elizabeth The Hybrid.
Wow, I thought, after a slow and doubtful beginning I am finally being rewarded with honest enjoyment (even if no-one's eaten any mice). I like this show! *settles in comfortably to watch*.
Cue promo for next week: Series Final!
Of course. Naturally.
I'm afraid to look online to see if the second series even got made, let alone scheduled to be shown in random late-night timeslots on a broadcast frequency to which I have might have intermittent access.
*pauses for bitter laughter*
