It's been a dot point kind of day, so I'll make less of an effort than usual at grammar. Sometimes I feel obliged; tonight, not so much.

I awoke to the first official morning of warm doonery snuggliness. Then I noticed the earthmoving equipment and jackhammers doing excavation and demolition work on the two houses over the road.

I had three prescriptions run out at once and went to get them filled, but one had expired a few weeks ago. In a way this kind of works well, because I was supposed to get my B12 shot last week but hadn't. Now I have to see the GP anyway (and pretty soon), he can give me the shot and I won't have to go through the usual rigmarole of convincing someone to shoot me. On the bright side, if I'd managed to get the shot last week it would have been that little bit more annoying to go back next week for the script.

I work really hard on those bright side things. I hope someone appreciates them.

Managed to get quite a bit done around the house today (laundry, dishes, several sets of shopping, and even some gardening), although I had a nasty cough which I blamed on bugs and tomatoes, not having registered the smoke. This evening the smoke thickened to actual smog *coff coff* and it's nasty stuff indeed.

In one errand I wrestled with Harvey Norman in a major shopping centre to collect a custom photo mug that Husband had ordered weeks ago and forgot about. I got sick of taking the calls pleading him to take it away. While I was waiting I picked up a couple of 4GB USB sticks for only $9 each. Soon I shall have to think serious thoughts about arranging my growing collection of anonymous thumb drives. At least with the old floppies there was plenty of room to write the contents on the label *shakes fist in old-person fashion*.

I've been reading one of my Christmas presents from Mum, Great Working Horse Stories by Angela Goode. High horse content (surprise surprise) and lots of interesting Australian history as recalled by the people who were there. Nifty things, horses. I like them. I miss them. Next week I'm determined to go to the stables for some warm fuzzies even if I'm not up to actual physical labour.

We are video shopless! The last video rental place within walking distance has shut down pretty abruptly. We knew it was coming, but the actual end seemed to come up out of the blue. Judging by the other cars I saw pulling into the carpark of the deserted shops we were not alone in our ignorance. There was a skip in the carpark full of demolished shop fittings, and I was almost tempted to scavenge for shelving. We now have to go to a huge video supermarket place at the nearest major shopping centre, with its associated fast food temptations. Plus, many cheap DVDs for sale. We iz doomd.

We saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Husband must have liked it a lot: he stayed conscious for the whole thing. It was mostly harmless, and with the exception of Mr T none of the voice actors were so famous that I was distracted by their resumes. Not too long, plenty of geeky fun. Many many film references, which is always fun for us. Also some interesting technical details in the special features. Interesting art direction/colour design notes. Virtual lighting rigs of awesome, which made me think of [livejournal.com profile] shrydar, have you seen it?

As I type I'm now looking at Dr No on 7HD, and it's an astonishingly crisp print.
