Sleepless in Swancon

And it's only Thursday night. Some thoughts for posterity.
Husband drove me here (but not to this) and deserves much praise for sacrificing his time to satisfy my whims every Easter. He says he enjoys watching me deal with the excitement.
The hotel room is far from the gaming room, which is good. It's a bit too close to the hotel soundsystem with which it inflicts awful musak on us until 11PM. The room is bare and clean and neat, It has an aubergine feature wall, which is nice, but all walls are bare of the kind of cheap hotel artwork I expected to see. My possessions provide some life.
There seem to be many children in the vicinity. And ambulances, police cars, airconditioning plants and hoons.
I have had my first *facepalm* following my hastily-taken decision to frock up for the cocktail party mixer thingie. At least I provided a measure of entertainment for some, but I was unwilling to greet the guests in such a disguise. I quicky reverted to cat t-shirt and jeans to listen to a Buffy panel.
Truly lovely seeing many people here. Quite pleasant seeing others. Some noted with vague recognition. Not too many in the who-the-hell? category. Shall have some work to sort out people and names: the names on the tags are tiny and cannot possibly read from anything less than an unsafe distance.
Will try to sleep now. Have not yet found the best pillow for the job. I may yet call for volunteers.
