Swancon (evil) plans
Mar. 28th, 2010 03:13 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If people wish to find me, these are my schedule highlights for the rapidly-approaching festival of Swancon 2010. Details are subject to change, as the advertised programme has reverted to a more primitive state, but roughly, these are my obligations and plans. Feel free to greet me or sit next to me (unless I'm up the front in some official capacity).
In amongst the bare bits of programme I may be babysitting the art show, so greet the person at the desk and it might be me.
Thursday
* Mid-late afternoon hotel checkin, and probably hide in my room, unpack and generally settle. I like to make it feel like Home for the duration.
* Register
* 8-9PM Cocktail Party. At which I will not drink cocktails, nor indeed wear cocktail dress (sadly I have nothing of the sort), but I might be inclined to say hello to people.
* 9-10PM Ticon book launch. Go rustle!
* 10-11PM (with diminishing likelihood) Trailer Park 2010
Friday
* 10:30AM Opening Ceremony
* 11:30AM Parasites: What are you carrying?
* 1:30 PM (Maybe) Dr Who 7th season.
* 2:30 PM (ABSOLUTELY) Scott Sigler GoH speech
* 3:30 PM (maybe) Aussiecon promotion
* 4:30 PM (maybe) Perfectly packaged: Designing science fiction
* 5:30 PM (mild clash) Disability in SF AND/OR The future of TV
* 8-10 PM Maybe Auction
* 10-11 PM (CURSES! Major clash) Iron Brain VS Scary Kisses. Iron Brain may win that one, particularly as I've been threatened with participation.
Saturday
* 10:30 AM: Haven't a thing to wear.
* 11:30 AM New Who
* Market day: It's time I bought myself a Dalek and an Enterprise.
* 1:30 PM: NASA's Budget Proposal
* 2:30 PM Ian Irvine GoH speech
* 3:30 PM Xena
* 4:30 PM (EEK I'M ON THE PANEL): Blockbusters of Shame. I have startling revelations to make, and an endless supply of Twilight comments. Plus other stuff.
* 5:30 PM Rumble in the prose.
* 8-late (or whenever the costume dissolves): Masquerade!!!!
Sunday
* 9:30 AM (if I'm awake by then): Scott Sigler reading
* 10:30 AM How did they do that?
* 11:30 AM Avatar
* 1:30-3:30 PM unsure
* 3:30 unsure.
* 4:30 PM Geek away or Inside the SF B movie
* 5:30 PM Swancon 2011 launch
* 8-9 PM Awards Ceremony (Vote for stephbg.livejournal for best fan writer! Before the ceremony, preferably.) Watch me gush in "surprise" or display the worst ever Loser's Fixed Grin And Slightly Too Slow Applause.
* 9-10PM (Gods help us all I'M IN CHARGE) Star Trek Chit Chat. Come prepared to politely (and yet vigorously) compare and contrast The Original Series (and let's face it, just S1 and S2) with the 2009 movie reboot. Bring your Spock ears!
Monday
What?
* 1:30PM (I'm moderating so I should turn up to) Making Science work in your SF novel. If all goes well I shouldn't have to say much.
Other stuff. Tired now just thinking about it. Might fill in the rest of Monday later. Or it could be a big surprise for all of us. Yeah. Surprise, that's good... zzzzzzzzzz.
