I happened to be in the right place at the right time to take a look at the ABC kid's program In The Night Garden. I'd heard it was especially weird, although claiming weirdness for children's programming is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel, and besides, I've not got much basis for comparison. But whoa, WTF?

What is this Iggle Piggle dude? Some kind of smurf/rooster hybrid burns victim?

Macca Pacca's sponge is all clean now, having washed it in a spray of urine from the ground? Is that what a Tiddle is? It certainly makes me want to have a pee and a good lie down. Macca Pacca appears to be an alien piglet.

Oh, now there's more Things, uh, dancing. Maybe. Words fail me,

Is this *really* the best way to grow young brains?

Is that the one with the duplex house(s) with peg people with antennae and Derek Jacobi doing the narration? Yep. Weird is right.

I think the people behind the Teletubbies had a hand in this.

Ohh, Teletubbies are deeply, deeply worrisome if you do more than just glance at that show, just not for any of the stupid reasons we've seen in the media.

Strangely enough, I am expert on In The Night Garden, as young Blake watches an episode every morning, and I have 50+ episodes on disk ..

It makes a weird kind of sense. Each character has their own personality, actions, and theme song.

It's only when you watch an episode to the end, and see the GIANT balloon-like creatures smiling and dancing, that the links to Cthulhu Mythos become evident (these giant "aarhoos" are the Elder Gods). The Tomblyboos are clearly some kind of alien servitor race, as they can fly or operate various alien vehicles. Iggle Piggle is, perhaps, a Deep One.

Up until 2 or 3 years old, kids LOVE this show!

Kids brains are not adult brains. not even close. And for really really disturbing, watch boobah. Boohbah is teletubbies on acid.
