Yes, I read it in a day. Yes I'm blind.
More of the same, basically, except Bella is now begging Edward for sex, and we're told that souls will be lost if she has her way without being married. Yes, you will go to hell. We're not talking about vampirism here, just good old-fashioned sex. Eternal commitment not being enough. Plus the conflicting advice in the text that she should experience life a little before settling down (as a vampire, rather than a wife).
Sadly there's been an increase in I'm-a-worm-and-vampires-are-beautiful behaviours. Not just Edward, but the Cullens and the Volturi are all impossibly beautiful. Blah blah blah.
A lot of people are concerned about the impact of Bella's low esteem and generally poor character on young female readers. I don't imagine that they're paying much active attention to Bella--everyone else being far more interesting--but the disturbing messages are getting louder.
There was one cheering moment when Bella punched Jacob in the nose for kissing her against her will. But she broke her hand. Again with the damage.
One more to go, then I can live again.
