Forging on

My pace was somewhat reduced today after a rough night. I woke some time in the early hours, shivering violently. After layering up I managed to get back to sleep, but by the time Husband was up and about I felt throaty and feverish and requested more layers and water. Blech.

I thought it was not impossible that my immune system was reacting to the office culture of bugs, but on the other hand the fibro is quite capable of doing this kind of thing all by itself. A couple of hours later I felt sufficiently improved to give the office a go, but kept to a modest target of two hours. Still, in three days in a row for a grand total of 8 1/4 hours chargeable was still a major triumph. A single working day. I got a lot done for a single day. And my own user docs actually make sense which is nice, so I'm getting up to speed again.

However, I hurt like hell. There's a nerve that wraps around the left arm from neck to wrist that is prone to inflammation, and it's going off :-( . Still, I much prefer pain to fatigue (remind me later that I said that). I don't think I'll be able to sit at a computer full time in the foreseeable future, but I'm hopeful that I can get my hours up by working split shifts. In the meantime I'll keep nibbling away at the workstation ergonomics which are not the best.

Prompted by a few comments on FB, I felt the urge to paint my nails as I'd not done in a couple of years. There's something very decadent about painting your nails; it's as if you're declaring to the world that you have the time to hang about and wait for them to dry. It's about *choosing* to spend time hanging about for your nails to dry, rather than having idleness enforced upon one. I take my shiny nails as further evidence that I am feeling improved.

I have chipped one of my back teeth. Again. The edge is annoying but not dangerously sharp so I'll not rush to the dentist to have it ground down.

I have orchids in my kitchen again. This is a good thing.

Tomorrow I need a good long walk, and may take myself to the zoo after work to do that. Next week I hope to get back in the pool. Gently. Carefully.

I don't think so. If it was an infection my immune system blew it out of the water in pretty short order. More likely a fibro thing.

Should you ever feel the need for company on a visit to the zoo, do let me know. =)

I totally understand your view of painting nails. It's a real sign of "I don't do things with my hands". Right now my nails are painted brilliant vermillion, and I'm kinda sad that I'm planning to cut them short again RSN. They just get really long, and my typoes increase!
