Profile #12. Sometimes you are a number.

The first time I remember adding a name, face and identity together to equal stephiepenguin was a UniSFA Quiz Night at the UWA tavern, and she was the UniSFA president. (Co-incidentally that was the last time I saw anthanum in person too, after a long gap.)



She calls herself "a penguin of very little brain" in her lj profile, but she is definitely a smart cookie. With a few exceptions I really only saw her once per year at Swancons. I remember one year asking her about her studies, only to be gently reminded that she'd graduated some time ago. Time passes. I think that was an Emerald Hotel year, and she had the capacitor earrings on.

She was Treasurer of Swancon 2007 (and impressively killed a zombie with a calculator) and I was very impressed with that whole committee. I made a point to chat to her a bit more this year, except when she was rushing about with a petty cash box and a look of determination on her face. No panic, though.

For her and her alone I stayed at a karaoke bar for an hour later than intended, waiting until she'd done her thing. I was a little distracted from the quality of her performance by the wacky Alanis Morrisette lyrics displayed on the screen.

She's bright and sparkly but serious and brainy. I like her, and hope she continues to stay in my universe.

hmmm...I'm trying to remember exactly when that was? I seem to recall that we chatted about computers and graphic design or somesuch.
