Husband had a brilliant idea last night: lure the cats out of the bedroom then close the door so we could (a) sleep in peace(*) and (b) solve the problem of their increasingly elaborate pre-dawn breakfast demands. I had my doubts but let him try.

At the appointed hour the bedroom door shook under the assault of the hungry furry zombies.

If George A Romero had done cat food commercials he'd have been about ready to wrap.

But then the pace shifted up a gear.

I think we all get the idea.

ALL RIGHT! GET UP MAN AND FEED THE DAMN CATS!

For of course Husband's plan had succeeded; he had slept through the whole thing.

Teehee.... sounds like quite a night!

We didn't leave the bedroom door open for our cats for the first 6 - 12 months we had them. They were still kittens really, and liked to romp and play all hours of the night, which did not make for good sleep.

They are now nearly 2 years old, and are much calmer. They seem to understand the routine now, and if they notice us packing up for bed they will run into the bedroom ahead of us and curl up at the foot of the bed. In the morning, they know that the alarm going off is permission for them to come and demand pets and attention and to stick their whiskered tickly noses in our faces. It's very cute!

We keep the bedroom door closed overnight on the weekends when we have Jacinta in the house. Unfortunately the cats know they get cuddles and attention in the morning, so they start making demands around 6am that we let them in and cuddle them. Butters especially seems able to meow once every 5-10 seconds for up to an hour or so. I don't know how the little guy has the lungs or the patience! He is definitely clingy and demanding... also cute, and fuzzy, and cuddly, and...etc

I <3 trading cat stories with people. I loveses cats sooo much!
