This place has everything

With errands to do, half a spoon to hand and some sunlight to catch I heaved myself out to Whitfords Shopping Centre this afternoon. As something of a challenge I spurned my usual parking technique of heading to the deserted end, and instead did some cruising to find a spot closer in. Not because I didn't feel up to the walk, but because I really *hate* cruising for parking and it was about time I did something challenging.
You can't keep a recovering Catholic down.
My first stop was the Medicare office to cash in the latest round of accounts. Experience suggested that it would be quite at that time. Experience is clearly losing its marbles; I took one look at the dispirited crowd and backed out the door.
Next was the search for milk crates, or rather any sturdy plastic containers suitable for propping up a rather large bass speaker. We'd already tried the usual suspects: Bunnings, Ikea*, Target, Red Dot etc but nothing was suitable. So I tried Howard's Storage World. Any excuse would do: I love that place. But no, nothing was to be found.
We have since improvised and will use gaffer tape and black fabric to complete the illusion of Big Band Grandeur on Saturday night at the Charles.
In the course of my shopping centre wanderings I came across a Mountain Designs, so thought I'd get myself another pair of Super Socks. This time I knew what I was looking for, but felt a terrible fraud marching up to the assistant to ask for ski socks. Was that a glint of ill-earned respect I saw in his eye? More Catholic guilt points today.
The new socks are my very favourite pattern: black with coloured flowers. I luff them.
If I was in town my next stop would be The Pit of Temptation; at Whitfords City it's the Happy Place in the Sky. Got myself a season of Buffy (hopefully where Willow becomes Bad Willow), and Attenborough's Private Life of Plants. I'm pretty sure it's not one that I've already bought on DVD. I've had the video version for years but I've been slow to replace them and they've all been in a box for a while.
I was sorely tempted by the British Life on Mars Season 1, and probably would have bought Dexter Season 3 if I'd seen it. Star Trek:TOS S1 wasn't there but they had S2. There was a buy-2-get-one-free deal going, but only on selected stock and the deal didn't work for me. I really shouldn't have been in there at all.
By the time I worked my way around to the end with the Medibank Private office I couldn't care less and kept on. Until I found the donut place and hit a few more guilt triggers with some careless purchases. Bad me.
I was in quite a lot of pain by the time I got home (possible rain-detection) so had a warm salt bath which seemed to help, and for no apparent reason decided to shave my legs for the first time in ages. The condition of my body hair has been quite a useful indicator for my health, but I guess I don't feel I need that particular measurement device any more. Or maybe I have enough furry objects in my life.
(*) Husband went to IKEA. I have yet to cross that threshold and when I do I'm sure I'll tell you all about it.
