Star Trek: First Contact

Somewhere along the line I lost track of my Trek, so it was a pleasant surprise to rediscover Star Trek: First Contact as one of the better films of the TNG franchise.
Not a great deal to say. It had quite a few fun moments, and some squirmy icky moments. I didn't feel at too much of a disadvantage having not watched the relevant TV episodes for a decade or so. I find myself disliking Jean Luc Picard, but he's not had a particularly good run over these film scripts. Plenty of room for good solid Shakespearean acting (I CAN ANNUNCIATE TO THE BACK RRRRROW!), but not many likeable moments for the character per se.
I'm not really bonding with Data as a Spock replacement either, but I have vague memories of liking him while watching the TV series. Perhaps there's hope. I don't recall ever being particularly impressed with Riker as a partial Kirk substitute, and especially not with that appalling beard *shudder*.
*misses young Kirk*
I remember enjoying Alice Krige's performance as the Borg Queen as much at first viewing as I did tonight, and it stood up nicely to Meryl Streep's Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada. Perhaps I should catch Sigourney Weaver in Working Girl again for additional evil female role models.
In contrast, Deanna "I Sense Hostility" Troi was an amusing drunk. I liked her clinging-to-my-dignity-then-collapsing-under-the-table performance.
I wish they'd stop breaking Enterprises. They're going through them like paper napkins.
And for the traditionalists:
Space Bikini Score: Hardly worth the bother these days. I am defeated. Nil points.
Star Wars Score: Completely different. The Death Cube was nothing like the Death Star.
And for the old people:
When the film score soundtrack was released it was available on records, CDs and cassettes.
No animals were harmed in the making of this motion picture.
