At some point earlier in this decade I started to notice the work of someone by the name of [livejournal.com profile] drhoz (plus various punctuation marks) at Swancon art shows. Many years ago it was quantity rather than quality, with a large collection of early CG works rather spoiled by $2 shop frames.

Over subsequent years the work improved noticably in quality and presentation (and number of tentacles), and I began to look out for it each year. I'm not sure when it was that I identified the man himself as an ambulatory human rather than a virtual art source, but identify I did, and looked forward to catching up once per year at Swancon.

After a while he started to do panels on icky squishy things, and last year I asked him to join me on "101 Uses For a Dead (Or Possibly Live) Squid". He kindly did all the hard work and provided the science and the pictures. I provided puppetry and alternative industries. We had discussed the thing in advance and I felt confident about working with him. I *really* like that in a panel partner.

He has a great eye for biotainment and I do my best to look at all of his wacky science posts. I appreciate his habit of responding to my posts or comments with a *grin* of some description. It's nice to know someone's out there, reading and responding.

At the Swancon 2007 he and his partner D dressed as viruses (EDIT: actually bacteria). Gotta respect that.

I do not know drhoz's real name. Normally this would bother me, but for him it works.

Curious to see how many of my brain cells are dedicated to memories of you? Want to keep me busy writing these profiles so I don't have time to rant, boast about swimming laps, document cat behaviour or whinge about my sore neck/knees/arms/legs/head/spleen/etc? I went to physio today, but do you care? Comment here

Bacteria. Shigella and H. pylori, if memory serves me well today (and not like a shoddy pile of crap like it usually does).
