fe2h2o fun

I believe
fe2h2o started life in my universe as a friend of a friend of UniSFA, but rapidly moved up in the world to first generation friend. 'Twas that magical period 89-90ish again of many new friends and scrambled memories. I may be mixing her history up with
emma_in_oz and
redbraids, but I often group those three together as a friend cluster.
Fe married* one of my best friends, and I managed to keep somewhat better track of her than usual by working with said friend for nearly 5 years. Her wedding gown was a beautiful rich red colour which impressed me Deeply. Such a bold statement and she carried it off perfectly with her Snow White black hair and pale skin. Superbly balanced by her serious intelligence, solid friendship, focus, and subtle sense of humour. You'd hardly notice the giant teeth ;-)
She was a school teacher for many years, and I was always amazed by her assignments to classes as far removed from her studies as possible. Go Ed. Dept. Now she's home-schooling her offspring I admit I don't pay excessively close attention to which book/song/recipe/folkdance/craft/ancient language/legal system/animal is featured in that week's lessons, but I'm always impressed by the thoroughness of it all.
I once interviewed her for a job, which was a little strange. Her application was out of left field, and though she could have been useful (anyone with intelligence and common sense is automatically useful), the decision was made to go with someone who had more specific IT skills. Not before a lot of discussion, however.
Last year I asked her if she'd be willing to sign up for unspecified duties at next year's Swancon variety show thingie. I don't know what for exactly yet, but I feel better just knowing she's on tap somewhere.
Typically I lost track of her at various points over the years. One one of the occasions I finally got around to visiting I was greeted at the door with the news that she'd had her second baby the week before. I had missed the whole pregnancy. Oops. Despite this minor lapse she is also one of the few people I make an effort to see in person once in a while.
She has a cat called Kabuki, who must be quite old by now. I'm often aware of other people's pets (generally more than their offspring) but this is a rare case where I've remembered the name as well. A great name.
Fe was responsible for my first Swancon panel contribution "Alien Landscapes", and subsequently for all my panels ever since so now you know who to blame. I was a late starter, but she gave me the kick.
(* Note: I mentioned the wedding early on because I particularly wanted to mention The Dress. She is by no means defined by her marriage (sorry
livelurker).)

Curious to see how many of my brain cells are dedicated to memories of you? Want to keep me busy writing these profiles so I don't have time to rant, boast about swimming laps, document cat behaviour or whinge about my sore neck/knees/arms/legs/head/spleen/etc? Comment here.

Date: 2007-08-15 05:54 pm (UTC)I _believe_ you were friends with emma_in_oz's boyfriend P (whether or not you were... that was the connection my mother made, so she always asked—still does, infact—after P's friend, the one with the stockings... actually, I think it used to take her mentioning the stocking's to work out who she was talking about:-) )
The first specific memory I have was the summer I broke my ankle, we went to your place to watch 'Thunderbirds'.
Kabuki is indeed getting old. I got him in about October 1995, as a kitten. Scary to think that!

Date: 2007-08-17 11:32 am (UTC)In my fashion defence, before Uni I had worn a school uniform or hand-me-downs, and had not a single fashion-conscious friend. And it was 1989. *retrieves memory of black trenchcoat and beret, winces*.
