The cat has left the bucket

Bowing to emotion rather than logic, Cally's bucket came off today at lunchtime about half a day ahead of schedule. She was settled on my chest at the time, and I expected her to run off to start frantic catchup washing, but no, she started washing immediately and stayed there for some time. There was much rejoicing.
It's impossible to know how much damage she might do to her own wounds, nor conversely how much she can be trusted, but she's made a good start--perhaps more interested in washing the rest of herself first--and I'll let her remain free overnight.
She seems to retain the clingy attitude of her confinement, but I'm sure in time that will fade. She's done a lot of washing but hasn't really restarted on the campaign to smear the entire house and reclaim her domain. Interestingly I haven't noticed the other cats make any particular effort to mark the usual spots, so a coup never got off the ground.
She just hissed at one of the fluffies! My evil baby is coming back to me.
