It looks like I have failed dismally in my quest to achieve 50,000 hits before Swancon (EDIT: Looks like not after all), but I've been too busy to post much and attract online fame. I will still not consider any Twitter-related means to this end.
I have been busy with data entry and banging out software like the wind to automate as much of the Swancon art show admin as possible, and create blisteringly efficient checkin and sales systems *hearts correctly registered artists*. That's the goal at any rate. I must now turn many pieces of paper into many many small pieces of paper. And theory into practice, gods help us all. Practical logistics is just not my thing. I'm a consultant analyst and writer; I don't actually DO anything. What fool recruited me for this?

ladnews, that's for you.
I've also spent chunks of time developing manual systems to deal with the inevitable Bad People who will no doubt just turn up unannounced with large, inconvenient, and tasteless works. These manual systems may or may not involve the application of blunt instruments and heavy-duty garbage bags.
Looks like I'll also be spending chunks of time minding the art show, so come along and keep me company there, or throw curly questions and vociferous approval at my panels.
Have just listened to the ABC Book Show interview with Richard Morgan and Trudi Canavan and am now extra keen to meet, listen to--and indeed converse with--Richard in particular. Let's just say we have compatible ideas about the consistency of human behaviour and communication, and how best to write about future tech. Looking good for the How does technology create society? panel. Just as well, since I designed it with him in mind :-)
Plus he has a sexy English voice.
*swoons*
I wonder if he likes Top Gear? Or whether--since he cites William Gibson as his favourite author--he indulges in ironic anti-tech tendencies? I shall have to find out :-)
Husband even threatened to display jealous behaviour. Well, he tried to threaten, but without much success. How sweet :-)
Buckets to do yet. Haven't even started on personal packing and feeding lists, and my fond hopes of masquerade costume development have long since vanished behind a mountain of stationery supplies and spreadsheets, and scarily-deferred panel prep. Apparently I'm amusing when I'm edgy, and nothing makes me edgy like the sensation of being under-prepared.
*boing boing boing*
