(1) Let's repost the offer in case anyone else wants me to question them:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5.When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

(2) My answers thus far in no particular order:

From [livejournal.com profile] linstar:
1. What do you miss the most about your brother?
His laugh.

2. What was your grand / master plan as a child?
To *have* a grand/master plan. Even as a small child I was keenly aware that I lacked either a vocation or a dream. I was a horse tragic, but not so tragic that I didn't understand the utter impracticality of owning a horse or making a living from them. I knew that I would need variety, that's about it. Life was all about getting a decent job that wasn't too horrible. I grew up in a public service family.

3. What was your first job?
Library/clerical assistant. I wasn't officially on the payroll until 16, but I'd helped (constructively) around the office since about 12. I got paid in Lindt!

4. Was this in any way related to what you saw yourself doing?
I was grateful it had nothing to do with fast food (i.e. messy and bad hours). I appreciated the fact that I was gaining experience in job-market-friendly skills from an early age. The repetitive bits reinforced my need and desire for project-based work. I developed my love/hate relationship with computer systems from the very beginning. So, kinda.

5. How would you describe yourself to others in 10 words or less?
With difficulty :P

OK: Friendly, intelligent, witty, quirky, intense, organised, creative, lateral, scary, fluffy.

Alternatively: Smart-arsed, messy, unreliable, irritating, oblivious, jumpy, irrational, self-obsessed, unhealthy, overweight.

It depends *why* I'm describing myself to someone else :-)

1. You're on a longhaul flight to somewhere exciting (flying first class of course). Who would like to sit beside you?
You'd have to ask them. I'm capable of long chats and long silences.

2. What animal would you like to get up close and within cuddling range with?
Almost any bird, reptile or mammal (not so keen on slimy or spiky), but preferably any leopard/panther. Black, spotted, snow...

3. What was the first CD and/or vinyl record you bought?
Possibly 1982 The Winners. (ED: In hindsight no, this was the first album I ever owned, and it was a Christmas present from BB. The first purchase was probably a 1983 hits compilation - I bought one per year for quite a while.)

4. What was the first movie you remember seeing at the pictures?
I remember going to the drive-in as a very small child in pajamas, but not what was showing.

5. Do you have a guilty crush?
Nope.

1. You're trapped on a tropical island - but which one?
One with all the mod cons.

2. What's the number one food you can't eat but wish you could?
I really try to avoid such thoughts. Possibly mushrooms.

3. Which living celebrity would you most like to meet?
Kylie.

4. Who plays you in the film of your life?
Husband's usual answer to this is Winona Ryder. I think maybe Janeane Garofalo.

5. Tell me - as briefly as you like - a treasured childhood memory.
Getting to sleep under a light, fluffy, and warm doona when staying overnight at doctor_k_'s house. In spite of the snoring ;-)

1. What do you enjoy about the beige diet?
Butter.

2. Can you remember what your age was when we first met?
Possibly about 30.

3. What sort of art do you like?
I know it when I see it. Things created or performed with skill is a good start. I tend towards the happy/beautiful/well composed end of the spectrum. I can appreciate angry/sad/passionate work, but sometimes find it exhausting. I'm frequently surprised by my own taste. That's the fun :-)

From [livejournal.com profile] callistra:
1) When are you going to stop fluffing around and write something? I love your voice in stories and unusual viewpoint. Hurry up.

Hanging out for that perfect pony paradise? I *am* writing something. Right now. Look, my fingers are moving.

2) What is your favourite meal?

Hard to say at the moment. Something beige because I get to feel all virtuous. Something balanced because that's an extra layer of difficulty. Something with unexpected flavour perhaps. I was very excited when I discovered that red lentils taste like peppery pumpkin.

3) Are you pissed that The Stig was revealed?

I didn't know! Not really. There are many Stig Helpers, so finding out who one of them is doesn't take away the magic of The Real Stig.

4) What makes you feel passionate right now?

I want to help make Swancon 2009 the best damn con ever. And stop being ashamed about the condition of my house.

5) Favourite slash pairing (even if you have never read it or thought of going looking)

I don't really think about slash (or any fanfic) at all. I'm generally happy to let an author do what they want with their characters, and most of the time I like the sexual tension. Except in Scarecrow and Mrs King. I desperately wanted those two to get together, but they did, so no slash required.

1. I don't think so. My fans seem to be so extremely well-behaved that I'm hardly aware of their existence... assuming they do exist, of course.
2. Not recently, alas.
3. Occasionally; mostly at cons.
4. Myriad reasons. One is that I doubt I'd handle the stress particularly well, and most of the rest are economic.
5. I've had a small number of people put their hands up, and a larger number ask me when the deadline is for abstracts.

From: [identity profile] stephbg.livejournal.com
When is the deadline for abstracts? We have PR3 and con book publishing deadlines coming up.

Does Feb 27 give the committee enough time to list them in the con book?

From: [identity profile] stephbg.livejournal.com
I suggest you check with our secretary on the committee list.
