Another good day

I could get used to this.
Had another productive day today, which included some quality snuggling, snoozing, walking, and pottering-about time with Husband. After washing the cars he then went out to get fish and chips (which I insisted I could get away with), and spontaneously bought me squid! And then he said when he thinks of dangerous things with tentacles, he thinks of me. Aaaawwww.
*cthulhu gestures*
Today's highlights included a major prune of the native hibiscus, and a well-overdue dead-heading of my favourite clump of kangeroo paws. This year's flower crop still looks pretty good, so I just stripped out as many old stalks, stumps and dead leaves as I could reach. Once the flowers go I'll hack it all the way back, and maybe this year I'll feed the poor thing. It's clear to see that a good bushfire would do the job in a fraction of the time, but I'll settle for old-fashioned western methods of gardening kthx. If nothing else I am determined that this one plant will get all the attention it deserves.
Unfortunately the tree removal process was not without collateral damage, and so I cut off the broken bits of a grevillia caught by friendly fire. Given that I haven't been able to see said grevillia for quite some time I'm philosophical about the loss. Will have to go back to even it up a bit.
Found yet more active termites in the garden, so will have to spray the house again after the drainage works are done. I no longer panic at the site of termites--you should have seen me when I found my first one--but a bit of barrier protection seems to be in order and it's been 2 years. Cha-CHING.
Finally declared defeat and tossed out the manky collection of dead and/or stricken pot plants near the front door.
Discovered that my latest sample pot colour for the living area is the most astonishingly ugly 70's orange once on the wall. I've never had such a difficult colour choice as this, but having rearranged the lounge the room is sufficiently different to distract me from the teeth-grittingly-sunny yellow colour I've put up with for 5 1/2 years. It probably helps that I no longer have to live with that colour in the kitchen, and I'm still in lurve with the earthy bedroom colours.
Did Swancon things. Of Mystery.
Updated my professional development records for last year, just in time for membership renewal at the end of the month. Discovered that the e-learning program appears to be in disarray.
Noted with amazement the gormlessness of people online.
Replaced the rego sticker in my car.
Chased up picture wire and suitable adhesive to create a hook on the back of an artwork based on a tile and destined for the bedroom. At least, I *hope* it's suitable adhesive. This is one of those low-priority jobs that's been on the agenda for aaaaaaages, and it felt so good to just get on with it. It's also been very satisfying to rummage through the wire/glue/string/screw/hook collections in the last few days to find the bits to do these jobs.
Maybe one day soon I'll repair my Stonehenge.
Had a nap. More of a recreational nap than an oh-dear-I'm-losing-consciousness-zzzzz nap. Also partly a don't-overdo-it nap.
So all in all, continued to make inroads on the New Year's list. Am pleased.
