Chocolat has been on the list of films to see for a very long time. I feared what commercial breaks would do to it, but nonetheless took the opportunity to watch it on the box this evening.
Husband is not at all keen on food films, so the cats and I watched it together while he worked on jazz arrangements in the back room. It's a compromise that has served us well for many years now. When it's my turn to flee the screen I read black ops books. We're just made for each other.
Anywho, back to the film.
I recall this film being promoted as a Johnny Depp vehicle, whereas in practice he has only a minor--albeit important--role. However, if someone had seen fit to mention before now that he had an Irish accent it might not have taken me so long to get around to seeing it. Not as astonishingly sexy as David Tennant's native burr, but a pretty good second place.
And there was some other stuff. And a happy ending that blind space moles could have seen coming from the corona of the sun. Still, it was nice to watch people bloom.
