One of my cousins is a cancer researcher and has been feeding the odd bleeding-edge oncology research paper to Mum, for a bit of light reading between MRIs.

The latest round of BB's test results have caused some head scratching at high levels. He has apparently passed beyond the realms of rare, left extremely rare in his wake, and is threatening to become unique in the history of (human) medicine. Strange, to boot. Biochemically inexplicable. Neurologically and immunologically (at the very least) not quite like anyone else they've even seen.

Imagine that, my brother the alien. That's two of us confirmed *eyes off remaining siblings speculatively*.

Then of course there's our apparently unaging Mother...

Alternatively, maybe it's time to break out the vet text books to check for jackal blood a la The Omen. Perhaps I sport a few feline genes myself.

Which leads me to a question: what other lit or films does this scenario remind you of? Apparently normal human reacts badly to treatment and is later revealed to be not quite human. A handful of X-Files episodes at least. Probably a bunch of superhero-type things, definitely including The Man From Atlantis. I vaguely remember the pilot episode where a team of doctors were trying to resuscitate The Man and failing until the heroine dragged him into the ocean, where he revived.

Hero revealed to be a machine or a clone or otherwise not a real boy would count, so bits of Bladerunner are in.

Ideas?
