Hairstyle of champions

stephbgSometimes I feel significantly less fannish than most of my flist and Swancon associates.
One day last week more than half the posts on my Friends page (22 in fact) were about the final of Dr Who season 4. I, meanwhile, waited passively for broadcast TV to catch me up with s4 ep1. I'm really quite fond of Dr Who, but I'm clearly not up to fan standards of must-know-now-ness.
This evening, however, my faith in my essential geekiness was somewhat restored.
My hair has reached some magical length where it's getting in my way. If there's a strap to be found in the vicinity it's bound to be arm wrestling with my tresses. With only a couple of combs to hand, I absentmindedly created two plaits, then pinned them above my ears. Granted I get a few extra points for watching Farscape at the time, but I didn't twig until catching my reflection just now that I'd spontaneously Princess Leia'd myself.
It wasn't so much that fact that I created a fictional character's 'do, but that I used the verb "to Princess Leia" :-)

I am currently watching Dr Who season 1 episode 5, having seen none of the past four series due to work and not having the fannish impetus to get hold of them all sooner. I generally go on fan binges, though, so I should be up to date some time next week.
