Time to go nuclear

The weather forecast for tomorrow included a haze alert "so go easy on the wood fires".
This in addition to "don't use your gas (or electric) heater" and "switch off the lights", and let's not forget "be water wise". No-one can afford oil or petrol or diesel, and we've all been priced out of the alco-pop market (oh noes!).
My current primary source of heating is powered by cat food. I just caught myself cradling the vent side of the laptop for the warmth.
I'd really like to have a hot bath tonight, but fear a government raid if I proceed without appropriate authorisation. It's not paranoia; PolAir1 is hovering over my street scanning for illegal infrared signatures.
Saturday night football will be fully lit, however, because the power usage will be offset by the drop in domestic consumption by the attending crowd. Apparently.
Solar? Wind? Geothermal? PigPoo(tm)? Pfft. Who needs it?

Date: 2008-06-19 08:01 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure that says enough about it.
Not to mention that there have been concerns about the gas supply relience going back at least 5 years and lets see just how much has been done about it. Well, in 3 months time we should have the supply back. just in time for winter to be over...
I guess the best thing about this is that at least it's winter. In Summer there gets a point where you just can't take more clothing off. Must have air cond. can live without heating, just would rather not.
