Restraint is Hard
Aug. 6th, 2014 02:17 amA Bad Thing has occurred which I am not at liberty to discuss on social media. That's fine, but it's sparked off a lot of Thoughts and Feelings that I'd normally work out online. I'm finding there's a huge difference between musing online and deliberately choosing someone to talk to about difficult things. I have many friends who I'm sure would be more than willing to chat, but it seems like a terrible imposition to pick someone specific to unload on in lieu of spreading the load as widely as possible.
Yes, Bad News is all about me (it isn't), but since I can't talk about the actual Bad News, nor the direct implications of Bad News, I can only mention (in a less public way than usual on DW) how bothersome it is to not be able to talk about Bad News.
If I were someone else I'd probably recommend (a) talking to someone without feeling so damned guilty about it because that's what friends are for, and/or (b) Write about it but just don't post about it (and try not to get withdrawal because there won't be any comments).
