Feb. 13th, 2008 05:58 pmThis morning I was part of the 3000 strong crowd who gathered at The Esplanade in Perth at dawn to listen to the new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd offer an apology from the government and the parliament to the stolen generations of Australian Aboriginal people.
I am not a crowd person, nor am I a particularly political person, but I wanted to be a part of this in some small way as a minor witness. Whatever your personal feelings, it was an historic moment, and they don't come along very often. A little piece of me was there for BB, who has worked so hard for native title.

Oh really?
Feb. 13th, 2008 07:08 pmLike a bunny in the headlights I somehow found myself watching a piece (it ain't no story) on Today Tonight entitled "What Women Want".
Well, what a table-load of Sydney blondes* and a magazine survey say they want, at any rate.
While biceps, a convertible, honesty, integrity, chemistry and "a dislike of Aussie Rules" all seemed to be absolute necessities for these bleached chardy-swilling cafe leeches, I was disturbed to find that intelligence, personality and a sense of humour played no part at all in the search for a mate. Clearly I've been doing it all wrong.
(*) There was a token brunette at the table but she was very quiet.
