Finishing touches
And so they stood on Castle Street
Umbrellas dripping on their feet.
‘Oh well,’ she said. ‘I’d better go.’
He nodded, stood unmoving, so
She leaned across and said that this
Could finish with a farewell kiss.
His lawyer stood and watched the pair
The misty drizzle in their hair
Which formed and fell in tiny drips
While swift and fluently their lips
Which knew each other’s softest part
Brushed lightly once; then drew apart.
‘You’re being very civilised,’
the lawyer said, unsure, surprised.
