The stuff of life

Cousin Weddings
Two of my cousins (a brother and sister) are getting married this year. Yay!
No, not to each other.
One a medical researcher getting hitched in Carolina by an archbishop. The other an IP lawyer usually based in London doing the deed in her home town of Brisbane just a couple of days after our 15th anniversary in December. She came to see us get married, so we're hoping to go to Brisbane to return the favour.
Fannish Journeys
Recieved my contributor's copy of Fannish Journeys yesterday, edited by

It did strike me as just as good as much of the fill in ASIM, but that doesn't really say much for I don't really approve of their editorial standards*. I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member.
That said, it did give me a funny little feeling to see my words in print again. I've published hundreds of pages of material, but most of it under direction. This was... odd.
Illsies
Yesterday Husband finally he admitted he was ill, and has had two days off and is going to the doctor tomorrow. Sore throat, fever. Rather like the sore throat and fever I've had today at home with him. It's so sweet when we're sick together, like a tiny plague of one's own. The cats are overjoyed.
I find it a strange kind of relief to be identifiably ill. For many years my symptoms were loosely diagnosed as "Um, a virus? Maybe?" but it's actually been quite a while since I've had an infection.
Best bit of the day, starting reading Infected by Scott Sigler. Mmmmm. Plague fiction. Free pdf download, but 70-odd pages in I'm quite happy to cough up for the hard copy. It's certainly the most reading I've done on screen for a while.
Insurance
Received a rather disturbing "YOUR POLICY HAS BEEN CANCELLED" notice from the car insurer today. In small print, however, was the notification that they will pay out for the loss of the Excel, minus excess. That will cover about a third to half of the cost of replacing it with something reasonably reliable, if not Top Gear material.
We're not yet out of the woods for other expenses.
Prosh
I was sad to miss Prosh today, particularly as it's been a good 20 years since I was a Proshtitute. I quite enjoy the walk across town brandishing my copy of Prosh like a crucifix against vampires.
The highlight of the day 20 years ago was going up to Dad's office to terrorise his work experience engineer and extract his lunch money from him. It's the boss' daughter in a miniskirt and beret. What are you going to say? Poor guy.
I actually started my day at Charlie's outpatient Hand Clinic, for I was fresh out of plaster from my broken arm. Hmmm, dressed like a streetwalker at a Hand Clinic. There for RSI treatment perhaps.
