A day of noteworthy events (at least on my personal scale) but it's late so dot points only.

* I can only buy one thing from commercial food outlets: steamed white rice (as long as it's not basmati or jasmine). Today's white rice included some surprise protein in the shape of a larval insect. Well, better than than the metal fragments in the microwave brown rice packet a few weeks ago. I ate the bug. I'm hungry.

* I saw a vintage car towing a caravan on the freeway. It wasn't doing 100kph, but was giving it a red hot go.

* Someone has noticed the appalling human buildup at the base of the escalators at the Perth Underground train station and has marked a Keep Clear area in yellow and black diagonals. I shall enjoy observing its success.

* More mining conference planning and bonding with the expensive consultant. Only one blonde joke, otherwise it was down to business, although I'm fully aware he was using sales/people management techniques on me. If it gets the job done I'm not complaining, but it's fun to watch people attempt manipulation and believe they're successful. Ah, wheels within wheels. The price we pay for posters, brochures and powerpoint.

* Was *extremely* pleased to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] baby_elvis this afternoon for a chat about many non-medical things, including some fascinating insights into Swancon administrative history. Apologies for disrupting the study, but we did talk about library things and databases.

* Must remember to find the linen clothing shop in Cottesloe on Station Street. Also looking for hemp trouser places. Any further hints appreciated

* Cheated on the beige diet with a carrot for dinner. A bright orange, flavourful crunchy carrot that cost 20c. Now that's a cheap floozy. Not selected entirely without some thought to the consequences, for carrots are low in amines (of which I am becoming increasingly suspicious, if relatively high in salicylates. For sanity's sake I may introduce a few more salicylates into the diet, but make sure to continue to avoid amines as they are emerging as the real troublemakers. Hence One Carrot. God it was good.

* Cheated on the beige diet with an actual coffee this morning. However, no headache this afternoon! Not to self - don't try this every day.

* Cheated on the beige diet with Jarlsberg cheese. It's the only cheese that's ever really agreed with me, but I should really try to stop eating it completely. No More Cheese.

* Have been eating too much white chocolate. Need to make a treat schedule (carrots being included as a treat) to increase variety without overdoing it. This is not the proper food challenge protocol, but I can't afford to risk a severe reaction. Unfortunately the fruit and veges that are doubly dangerous for amine and salicylate content are things you find in medditeranean food: tomato, egg plant, olives, capsicum.

* The Ceiling squirrels came this afternoon to sand back the patched bits. They said that we didn't need to keep everything covered because they had a vacuum extractor and wouldn't make any mess. Hahahahahahahahaha. We kept most of the covers on out of laziness mostly, but anything left became frosted and crunchy. Such is life (thank you Ben Cousins) but I'm pleased to have a major maintenance job out the way.

* Was interview by the Bureau of Stats for a pilot labour survey. I felt sorry for the poor woman, for practically every question I had to pause, ruffle the hair on the back of my head, squint thoughtfully and say "Well... that's kind of complicated" By the time we were done smoke was coming out of the laptop. Glad to be of service to the goverment.

May need to edit this later. Too wacked to read it back properly.

Hope the bug wasn't full of amines :)

There are two hemp clothing shops in Fremantle.

It was just one, and it was very small.

With the food intolerances you might find it worthwhile looking into this: http://www.aaeclinics.com.au/. I'm giving it a go. They say I'm intolerant to amines and salicylates. They are working on getting rid of allergies to pollens and things like that at the moment, and will try to get rid of the food intolerances after the sniffley nose ones are done.

It's worth noting that of the three sessions I've been to so far there's been no notable improvement in the sniffley nose. But I will keep trying them. It's only money... and I'm so sick of this nose I will give anything a go.

Oh, and some people my sister knows from failsafe mailing lists have tried the clinic and found some success. Not got rid of intolerances completely, but widened the number of foods that can be eaten without reacting.

It took me a couple of years of desensitisation shots to reduce the hayfever - but it worked. Not gone completely, but significantly improved. Probably some interation with sinus inflammation due to food intolerance. That clinic looks frankly too good to be true.

It does, doesn't it? But I shall persist with it in the spirit of sceintific curiosity, and consider myself a test bunny for those who also may find it useful.

I've been doing the allergy shots for nearly a year now, and no improvement on the nose. Though I have got to know the staff at my local GP rooms very well, and a lovely bunch of people they are too.

They did the amine intolerance on Wednesday. Still no difference to the nose, but since then I have slept so well! Coincidence?? Maybe. I hope not.
