Have continued to satisfy one of my new year's requests to the universe by tracking yet more beach sand into the house and car, even without the assistance of a dog, child or teenager.

The beach was steep this afternoon, with the tide sloshing about and digging away at the sand. I got wetter than anticipated, but I accept this hazard of shoreline perambulations. The last time I looked I'm not a gremlin or the wicked witch of the west (hmmm, probably) so I should be able to cope with soggy knees.

Kept an eye out for [livejournal.com profile] punkrocker1991, [livejournal.com profile] valeskah1, [livejournal.com profile] catundra and associated puppy friends but didn't sight them today. Have spontaneously bumped into [livejournal.com profile] punkrocker1991 twice there, so not doing too badly for Perth random encounters.

Saw about 20 kite surfers apparently attempting midair marine macrame with kite strings and bodies. Unfortunately they were all big wusses and avoided each other.

I don't often see seagulls at the dog beach, but saw a couple flying into the wind over the dunes, holding station in the sea breeze. I can't imagine why these birds (otherwise known as Nature's Best Feathery Dog Toy And Tasty Treat(tm)) seem to avoid this stretch of coastline.

Highlight of the walk was some serendipidous athleticism* where I shot out a foot to perfectly block a runaway ball being blown out of reach of its (human) pursuer. I loved that illusion of physical prowess.

*reads entry back to self* You know, I'm not sure that loneliness and depression are good for literature after all. Remind me to not be locked away for a few decades with only a quill and mice for company. Maybe some parchment to go with the mice, or I'll be limited to haiku or marketing tag lines.

(*) Or something suitably round-ball anthemic
(**) That would be "a fluke".

We were there about 3pm and all of us, especially the dogs came home wet, tired and happy. : )
